Frequently Asked Questions
What should I consider when choosing a program?
At Life Is Goodnow Coaching, we offer various programs to meet your goals. Here are some questions to ask yourself when deciding which is the best fit for you:
What level of support do you need? Be honest with yourself. Do you need that extra kick of accountability? If so, we highly recommend the All Hands on Deck VIP 1:1 Climbing Coaching, which includes dedicated weekly coaching calls and 24/7 messaging support.
How much time do you have available for training? We’re able to get into the nitty-gritty if you can devote more time per week to your climbing training. Our All Hands on Deck 1:1 Climbing Coaching includes support for strength, technique, and mindset. Alternatively, if you only have the capability to focus on one of those elements, our Atlas Strong program dials in on the full body and finger strength required to send hard.
What are your goals? What time frame do you have for these goals? A longer rock climbing training program will yield better results, so if you can commit to it, we suggest a 12 week program. However, some goals might be able to be met in a shorter time frame.
If you’re pondering any of these questions or want a third-party perspective, we would be ecstatic to talk to you a bit more about any questions or concerns. Book a 30-minute discovery call with Kyle here.
Do you offer payment plans?
As you know, life happens. Can we modify a program once it’s started?
Programs are 100% adjustable to meet whatever life throws at you (sickness, huge work project, family matters, etc). We are flexible and work to meet the reality of life.
Why hire Life Is Goodnow Coaching?
Kyle is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Performance Climbing Coach (PCC), and a lifelong learner. The right time is always now.
What does a training plan look like from Life Is Goodnow Coaching?
Each rock climbing training plan starts with a personal assessment to better serve you! This provides a baseline and targets a training program built specifically around your experience, needs, and goals. This isn’t a dictatorship, it’s a partnership to help you progress.
Plans are built in 4 week blocks focusing on a specific adaptation or programmed in a non-linear style. Session structure includes a general warm up, specific warm up + skill work, session focus (the meat and potatoes), and a cool down.
How can we get started?
If you’re unsure if climbing coaching would be helpful for you, I recommend booking a 15-minute rapid-fire coaching call, where you can ask your climbing training related questions (anything is on the table!). If you think you want to move forward, then let’s talk about your goals and how we can help get you there via a 30-minute discovery call. You can book either call using this link.
If I need any coaching in the future, Kyle will be my go-to
“Working with Kyle was incredibly valuable to my training, from strengthening my head game to completing physical goals on the wall. Aside from his knowledge and programming that kept my routines engaging, his enthusiasm and constant support was so encouraging week to week! My climbing confidence coming out of the 12-week program exceeded my expectations from when I first started and if I need any coaching in the future, Kyle will be my go-to.”

Previously I felt like I had reached a plateau, and Kyle helped me break out of that!
“I initiated a coaching program with Kyle because I wanted an outside perspective, and because I wanted to challenge myself in a new climbing program to see what I could gain. Previously I felt like I had reached a plateau, and Kyle helped me break out of that!”
–SARAH M.
Compact sessions to fit into my busy schedule and plenty of psych
“I have always trained harder when I have someone else setting up a plan for me. I tend to continuously tinker with my own training plan, resulting in less effective sessions. Kyle provided a great product with compact sessions to fit into my busy schedule and plenty of psych to keep motivation high through 12 weeks! I have felt stronger and more confident on the wall with the strength and endurance gains, as well as implementing some of the tactics we discussed during our check in calls.”
–JOHN H.
Hey y’all, I’m Kyle Goodnow, the psyche behind Life Is Goodnow Coaching
At 19, I wandered into my first climbing gym and instantly fell in love. Climbing for me has filled the void of being an athlete, given me a community I could only dream of, and taken me to some of the most beautiful places on planet Earth.
After 8+ years in the sport, I have honed my skills as a weekend warrior while juggling a demanding full-time job. My goal is to share the lessons and methodologies I have found useful with those who want to reach their fullest climbing potential. Take it from me – it is possible to thrive in your passion alongside the requirements of day-to-day life.
My background as an engineer lays a foundation for creating methodical, sustainable, and science-based approaches to training. I consider myself a lifelong learner and am qualified as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), as well as a Performance Climbing Coach (PCC). This experience allows me to create bomber climbing specific and strength training plans for weekend warriors with the understanding that your time is valuable.
You can catch me pulling big days in the alpine, trying hard while clipping bolts, and systematically training to up my game. Fun fact: I have a love for all things pancakes, Kung Fu Panda, and rom coms.
